~ Message from the Principal ~
Welcome to Mountview Road School! The first line of the school song is, "Mountview Students we're the best, in the north, east, south and west!" As you can see, the staff, students and parents are proud of our school and support an academically challenging curriculum and an atmosphere of respect for self and others.
Differentiated instruction is used extensively to provide students with the opportunity to achieve their potential and prepare for future years as students and lifelong learners. All children can and will succeed. Emphasis is placed on the language arts and is integrated through the grades and mathematics, inquiry based science and social studies are always part of the traditional offerings. Pupils with distinctive needs and abilities have access to a host of services including Basic Skills Instruction, English as a Second Language, Child Study Team assistance, special education programs, adaptive physical education, and programs for gifted needs that take place in the classroom and as a pull out program. We are fortunate to have a professional staff, active parents, a strong instructional program, and a variety of learning materials to offer to our children. The Mountview Eagle, our fine newspaper, shares the school news with all community members. Our extensive vocal and instrumental music program receives raves from parents and friends alike as they perform for special occasions and holidays. Our Health Fair and the Mexican Fiesta allowed for interdisciplinary planning among all our teachers and culminating activities that allowed all disciplines to shine! The Mountview Road School PTA is an integral member of the school community. Our parents do an extraordinary job as volunteers in our library, classrooms, and cafeteria. Their varied activities also include a Winter Enrichment program, the hot lunch program, the family picnic, the talent show and the Cultural Arts Program, which invites into our school different assemblies that enrich the curriculum in many wonderful ways. Through the organizational efforts of our Student Council, we encourage the students to sponsor humanitarian causes and fun activities alike. The students and staff are particularly active in programs that involve the school and community. Special "Spirit Days," contests, and food and clothing drives enrich the lives of our students. We are especially proud of our on-going affiliation with an after school club that works with inner city students. We collect gifts for the holiday season and organize a coat drive to assist and support the efforts of this fine organization. _____________________________________________________________ Thea Spina, 973-515-2424 |
