Memorial Junior School, part of the Hanover Township Public School District, is located in Whippany, New Jersey.  Our school is currently home to approximately 550 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students with a professional staff of over 60 teachers.  Memorial Junior School is an inclusive learning community that offers a comprehensive academic program based on the framework of the New Jersey Core-Curriculum Content Standards.  We have an outstanding middle school that promotes the intellectual and social development of our students in a caring, positive, and productive learning environment.  The programs of study place strong emphasis on academic achievement, the use of 21st Century learning strategies, participation in the visual and performing arts, health, nutrition, and lifelong physical fitness programs.  In addition, our “Going Green” initiatives inspire an appreciation and respect for the environment.

Our diverse school programs include after-school clubs, varsity athletics, student government, enrichment programs, a special education program, a gifted and talented program, an accelerated math program that includes algebra, world languages (French/Spanish), an environmental educational experience at Fairview Lake YMCA, and an award-winning character education program.  For the third straight year, Memorial Junior School has been recognized by the Center for Social and Character Development at Rutgers University, as well as the New Jersey State Department of Education, as an “Honorable Mention” 2011 New Jersey School of Character.  Our facilities feature a state-of-the-art instructional media center, two computer laboratories, music wing, cafeteria, auditorium, science laboratories, two gymnasiums, and several athletic fields.
